Eggless Napoleon Cake

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cold butter
  • ¾ cup cold water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (as an egg replacer)
  • For custard: 3 cups milk, ½ cup sugar, 3 tablespoons cornstarch, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Mix flour and cold butter to form a crumbly texture. Add water, vinegar, and cornstarch mixture to form dough. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  2. Divide dough into 6-8 equal portions and roll each into thin layers.
  3. Bake each layer at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool them.
  4. For custard, heat milk and sugar, add cornstarch dissolved in water, and cook until thickened. Stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Layer the baked sheets with custard in between. Refrigerate overnight for flavors to meld.

Decoration Ideas:

  • Sprinkle finely crushed pastry crumbs or shaved white chocolate on top.
  • Decorate with edible flowers for a festive look.
